About the Role
The CBC Gem team is seeking a skilled Senior Writer for a one-year contract to create engaging, audience-facing copy for the streaming service. You will translate information from various sources into compelling content that drives viewership, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Writing audience-facing text copy throughout CBC Gem, including series and movie descriptions, collection titles and descriptions, and carousel copy.
- Collaborating with the team to maintain a clear, authentic, and vibrant voice.
- Monitoring best practices in the streaming space for text copy and title packaging.
- Maintaining a copy calendar and database of descriptions.
- Immersing yourself in the CBC Gem content library.
- Reviewing content performance to make data-driven decisions.
- Working closely with cross-functional teams, including Gem Programming Office, Merchandising, Marketing and Publicity, and Digital Product & Innovation.
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent.
- Five years of relevant experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under deadlines and with multiple priorities.
- Keen interest in and ability to keep pace with evolving trends in the streaming media space.
- Knowledge of and affinity for CBC, its programming and services, and understanding of the media industry.
- Ability to contribute to the diversity of perspectives on the team.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of, or connection to, underrepresented communities across Canada.
- Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
- Candidates may be subject to a background check, including a mandatory Criminal record check.
