About the Role
The Special Education Supervisor at LEARN Academy oversees and improves special education services for students with diverse learning needs, ensuring the effective implementation of comprehensive programs to enhance students' academic, social, and emotional development. This role involves interacting with various stakeholders to ensure a student-centered approach and providing leadership in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs). The supervisor contributes to the company's mission of improving the quality and efficiency of special education services, supporting positive student outcomes and strengthening partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Oversee special education programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, district, and school-specific requirements while supporting the development and implementation of IEPs.
- Maintain regular in-person presence at assigned school site(s) to observe staff, support service delivery, attend meetings, address school/district partner needs, and ensure program quality and compliance.
- Lead, coach, and support assigned special education staff, including conducting observations, providing feedback, supporting performance reviews, and addressing employee relations needs.
- Develop, create, and deliver professional development and training for staff based on identified needs.
- Support special education program quality and compliance by participating in IEP-related activities, parent/student meetings, and school-based team meetings.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for new business development, contract renewal, program expansion, and continued school/district partnership.
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and leadership to recruit, interview, and recommend staff for employment.
- Manage and support staff performance management, including observations, feedback, coaching, and employee relations support.
- Conduct program audits and supervise the collection, maintenance, and review of student, staff, and program data.
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with program leadership, school/district leadership teams, other school partners, parents, and key stakeholders.
- Maintain current knowledge of special education laws, regulations, evidence-based practices, and professional standards.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality special education services that meet school/district partner satisfaction goals and promote student advancement.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all aspects of the role.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree
- At least 5 years of school-based experience in special education required.
- Leadership, coaching, supervision, and/or program oversight experience highly desired.
- State license/certification and appropriate discipline credentials required.
- Pass background check.
