About the Role
Flow is seeking a Head of Forward Deployed Engineering to lead the team that turns signed customers into deeply embedded, growing accounts. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and revenue, owning customer integrations, AI workflow design, product growth, and account expansion.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead the forward deployed engineering function, including hiring, setting the operating model, and defining team collaboration with sales, product, and engineering.
- Own customer integrations end to end, connecting Flow to customer's PLM, ALM, CAD, simulation, and issue tracking tools.
- Design and deploy AI workflows tailored to each customer's requirements and systems engineering process, and create repeatable playbooks from successful patterns.
- Own product growth and usage within accounts by tracking adoption, identifying roadblocks, and driving broad organizational use.
- Own customer expansion by partnering with account executives to identify new opportunities and build the technical case for growth.
- Convert sales engineer handoffs on pilots into successful production deployments.
- Provide feedback from the field to product and engineering teams to influence the roadmap.
- Remain hands-on by writing code, building integrations, and collaborating with customer engineers.
Requirements
- 7+ years in forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, software engineering, or a technical customer-facing role.
- 2+ years of team leadership experience.
- Strong technical foundation with experience in building integrations, reasoning about APIs and data models, and understanding software's role in complex engineering stacks.
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs or deploying AI-driven workflows in production for customers.
- Proven track record of driving adoption and expanding accounts.
- Comfortable operating across a customer organization, from individual engineers to VPs and program leads.
- Ability to build a function from an early stage, balancing hands-on execution with team structure.
- Comfortable in a fast-moving environment with rapid scaling of product, customer base, and team.
- Familiarity with requirements, systems engineering, PLM, or ALM tooling (Jama, DOORS, etc.) is a plus.
- Background in or working with defense, aerospace, or regulated hardware environments is a plus.
- Experience with security and compliance requirements (ITAR, CMMC, on-prem or restricted deployments) is a plus.
