About the Role

This role is an essential part of our Public Affairs & Access (PAA) organization, specifically within the Genentech Patient Foundation (GPF). PAA is dedicated to delivering impact through a fully integrated public affairs function that leverages our capabilities and world-class brand to ensure eligible patients gain access to life-saving medicines. As a member of this GPF team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in Patient Experience (PX) Delivery and Strategy, Corporate Communications, Policy, External Affairs, Legal & Compliance and Genentech field teams to create a seamless, best-in-class patient support experience.

Responsibilities

• Set mid-term strategies and nationwide operational plans for GPF patient support programs, driving cross-portfolio standardization across therapeutic areas and leading GPF Board of Directors workstreams alongside the Head of GPF.
• Lead a large location-distributed team of frontline staff across the country (through a layer of Team Leads) as well as the Lead of a small team that manages all GPF medicinal product shipping and distribution.
• Lead strategic realignments of processes, SOPs, and systems to maximize efficiency, streamline workflows between GPF and the Donor organization, and ensure strict alignment with evolving compliance standards and Foundation independence.
• Address highly complex patient cases, exception requests, and systemic escalation issues, developing structural solutions and risk mitigation strategies alongside Legal, Compliance, and other partners.
• Oversee the team managing high-volume, high-value charitable medicinal product inventory, ensuring shipping and distribution workflows meet all pharmaceutical handling regulations and performance standards.
• Serve as a key member of the GPF senior leadership team, representing GPF priorities to cross-functional leaders across Genentech.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., business, finance, healthcare management, public policy) or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of professional industry experience in healthcare/healthcare reimbursement, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related field (analytics, operations management, business, finance, etc.), with a strong focus on patient access, foundation management, or support services and with experience utilizing data and technology to improve patient outcomes.
• 5+ years of direct people management experience, including leading teams through change.
• Proven success directly leading large, geographically distributed teams and preferably through layers.
• Demonstrated expertise in planning, prioritizing, setting mid-term strategies, driving process improvements, managing complex workflows, and converting executive decisions into team execution.
• Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with a track record of partnering with senior leaders.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% to Genentech's home office in South San Francisco and other locations across the country as required.
