About the Role
Provides direct or indirect patient care in accordance with treatment plans, assisting with tasks for unit management and organization, while being flexible to meet patient and unit needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and indirect activities to facilitate unit functioning.
- Participate as a member of the care delivery team.
- Provide safe and competent care for patients regarding nutritional, skin integrity, elimination, and hygiene needs.
- Take patient vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, and pain level.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, compassion, and support for patients and their families.
- Exhibit exceptional communication with care delivery team members, modeling teamwork.
- Assist with patient ambulation, feeding, transferring, and lifting.
- Assist with patient admission, discharge, and transfer.
- Perform clerical duties, including transcription and maintenance of patient charts.
- Assist patients with mobility, such as sitting, standing, and walking.
- Stock rooms, handle medications, sharps, and syringes on the OR field (Cath lab only).
Requirements
- Minimum age requirement: 18.
- Moderate clinical roles require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs.
- Pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning.
- Frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments.
- High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns.
- Substantial emotional and cognitive demands, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus.
- Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation.
- TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
