About the Role

The Senior Manager, Royalty Administration & Onboarding plays a critical role in turning newly acquired music catalogs into fully operational royalty businesses. This leader oversees the royalty onboarding strategy, translating complex deal terms into clear, effective royalty structures and workflows. The role ensures every catalog is positioned for accurate and efficient royalty administration from day one and partners with M&A, Finance, Legal, and Royalties teams early in the acquisition lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Own contract-to-system royalty interpretation company-wide, including rates, splits, territories, escalators, cross-collateralization, recoupment, and defensible workarounds.
  • Own the Royalties Readiness Gate for incoming acquisitions, issuing go/no-go recommendations.
  • Own the handoff packet standard for incoming acquisitions, clearly stating final, assumed, and open items.
  • Lead contractual royalty obligation analysis for acquisitions, recommending onboarding methodology.
  • Represent Royalties in M&A diligence from LOI, owning the royalty section of the diligence memo and closing conditions.
  • Own the team's project portfolio, including tooling for expense validation, bulk ingestion, and automated template generation.
  • Own role-based access and configuration governance across all royalty systems.
  • Establish and enforce upstream intake requirements from other departments for expense, advance, and account-creation requests.
  • Run prior-acquisition review to find and correct configuration and mapping errors from past integrations.
  • Set, publish, and hold KPIs for integration and ongoing operations, including time-to-royalty-ready, error rates, and team throughput.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the Label Administration and Integration teams, including two people managers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in music business, accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of applicable royalty administration and royalty operations experience in the music industry will be considered.
  • 4+ years of relevant royalty administration or royalty operations experience.
  • 2+ years of people management experience, ideally including managing other managers.
  • Demonstrated track record of catalog integration or onboarding.
  • Hands-on experience translating contract terms into system configuration.
  • Experience handling advanced multi-layer royalty recoupment models and cross collateralization is highly desirable.
  • Experience configuring an enterprise royalty or rights-management platform at a configuration level.
  • Ability to read an acquisition agreement and identify royalty system requirements.
  • Judgment to design and document defensible workarounds when a platform cannot implement a contract term literally.
  • Experience owning access and configuration governance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and accurate across concurrent acquisitions and day-to-day administration.
