About the Role
Our veterinarians make life saving decisions every day without the limitations of traditional private practice, meaning more effort goes into trying to save an animal, more experience is gained, and vets see cases that normally would never be given a chance to live.
Responsibilities
- Perform outpatient/inpatient exams, case workup, and create treatment plans, mostly revolving around established protocols.
- Manage and prevent outbreaks through strict vaccine implementation, isolation of sick animals, and tracking.
- Maintain accurate medical records for all cases.
- Provide telemedicine services and efficient communication with caretakers via email and phone.
- Perform basic surgeries, high-volume spay/neuter procedures, and emergency surgeries.
- Work up challenging cases with consultation from in-house veterinarians and external specialists.
- Provide after-hours treatment and triage when on call.
Requirements
- DVM degree and license to practice in Texas.
- Highly motivated with a commitment to promoting lifesaving.
- Passion for helping both people and pets.
- Previous shelter experience is preferred but not required.
- Surgical skills and confidence are preferred and may lead to a higher salary, but are not required.
