About the Role
The Compute Systems Software team designs, develops, and maintains the foundational embedded software platform for SDV solutions. We are developing a world-class GM experience for our customers and driving real change at one of the most iconic automakers on the planet. This role focuses on display solutions for high-compute System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms, working with Linux-based display systems, device drivers, and display hardware.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software and device drivers for automotive display systems.
- Develop software features on Linux to control the powering, configuration, and activation of display devices and processes.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and integration.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and system architects, to ensure seamless integration of display software with hardware.
- Collaborate with other engineers to optimize performance, memory usage, startup time, and power efficiency for high-performance embedded systems.
- Contribute to the development of production-quality software by applying best practices for embedded software development in automotive and other safety-critical domains.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in embedded software development.
- Experience with Linux-based embedded operating systems.
- Experience developing or integrating display software, device drivers, or display hardware.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Solid understanding of embedded hardware architectures, including processors, memory management, and peripherals.
- Knowledge of communication protocols, including Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
- Solid understanding of Linux kernel frameworks, including DRM/KMS, DMA, V4L2, and device trees.
- Experience deploying commercial embedded systems.
- Familiarity with ARM architectures.
- Experience with bring-up, validation, and system-level testing of SoCs and display hardware.
- Experience with display interfaces such as DisplayPort, HDMI, or MIPI DSI is preferred.
- Experience in automotive or safety-critical software development is preferred.
