About the Role
Kaluza Product Specialists are retail-energy experts who build processes to handle exceptions that core platform automation misses. They identify affected accounts, perform compliant remediation using internal platform APIs, and audit every action for client and regulatory defensibility.
Responsibilities
- Take escalations from Client Support, incident and problem management, and product teams, and own the analysis through to a decided course of action
- Identify the genuinely affected cohort across multiple platform domains
- Decide the correct and compliant remediation, accounting for regulatory limits and downstream financial effects
- Feed findings back into the originating incident or problem with evidence and trace references
- Judge whether something is a one-off cohort or a recurring pattern that warrants a built process
- Build and own scheduled SQL models that detect broken journeys and output accounts needing action
- Work within a multi-client SQL framework, layered models, DAGs and dependencies, lineage, versioning and auditing
- Interrogate data across billing, ledger, payments, reads, contracts and industry domains to validate a hypothesis
- Write Python processes that read the operational table, build conditional journey logic, and call internal platform APIs
- Audit every attempt, request, response, trace token, timestamp and outcome to the data platform and Datadog
- Build safety features like dry runs, rate limiting, and rollback capabilities
- Deliver ad-hoc remediation at pace when an incident calls for it
- Deploy processes as scheduled, monitored infrastructure defined in Terraform, AWS, or Kubernetes CronJobs
- Configure monitoring, alerting and runbooks for silent and safe process execution
- Contribute to global build with local extensibility direction, including shared code and client-specific configuration
- Pick up planned initiatives and client-requested delivery through the AKPS backlog
- Embed with value-stream and product teams where delivery needs operational depth
- Support industry-wide programmes where platform coverage doesn't yet exist
- Push recurring manual intervention back to Product & Tech as a signal for a systemic fix
- Reduce manual effort through automation and AI
- Share patterns and learnings across regions and with the wider engineering community
Requirements
- Existing right to work in the UK
- Deep retail-energy domain knowledge (billing, contracts, payments, metering, reads, industry processes, regulatory obligations)
- Strong SQL with experience building and maintaining data models (dbt, Dataform or similar)
- Solid Python, ideally including calling and integrating REST APIs
- Forensic approach to problem-solving, tracing journeys through logs, metrics, and data
- Comfortable working across several domains at once and holding the whole picture
- Careful with clients, customers, and data, understanding the importance of audit trails and testing
- Willingness to use AI tooling while understanding where expert oversight is non-negotiable
- Ability to manage competing priorities between scheduled delivery and reactive escalation
- Strong written communication skills, with the confidence to explain technical findings clearly
