About the Role
Excellence Community Schools (ECS) is a K-8 Charter Management Organization (CMO) serving communities in the Bronx, NY, and Stamford, CT. Our schools prepare young scholars to compete for admission to and succeed in top public, private, and parochial high schools by cultivating their intellectual, artistic, social, emotional, and ethical development. We offer a supportive learning environment that seeks to develop high-level analytic and critical thinking skills in all of our students.
Responsibilities
- Plans and teaches with grade level team to implement best practices for the success of all learners within the classroom.
- Plans purposefully to provide students with opportunities for constructing meaning and developing understanding of new concepts.
- Utilizes developmentally appropriate and rigorous curricula and instructional materials aligned to benchmarks and Common Core standards.
- Presents students with new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies, inspiring and guiding them to explore and express their own ideas.
- Administers, collects, and analyzes qualitative and quantitative data from assessments on each student.
- Builds relationships with students’ families through regular communication about progress and provides ways for families to support learning.
- Participates in school-wide student assessments to diagnose student needs.
- Supervises lunch and/or recess.
- Provides coverage for classroom teachers.
- Provides other support as needed by the school community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree Required.
- Master's Degree Preferred.
- NYS Teacher Certification or reciprocity from another state in the equivalent area preferred.
- 4+ years of teaching experience.
- Teaching experience at elementary school level or experience with school age children preferred.
