About the Role
The School Aide is responsible for supporting school operations, teachers, and students in all areas of instruction and the learning environment. This school aide reports to the Principal.
Responsibilities
- Supervise student arrivals, dismissals, and late arrivals.
- Supervise sessions of recess and lunch.
- Assist teachers during assigned specials classes such as Art, Music, Dance, Science, Spanish and Physical Education on a daily basis.
- Monitor students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (classroom, restroom, hallway, recess, busing, field trips, lunch, playground, etc.).
- Assist with keeping students on task and provide additional assistance to individual students or small groups who need extra help or monitoring.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom by organizing chairs, tables etc.
- Assist operational and teaching staff with tasks including maintaining storage and supply areas, unpacking/checking of materials, maintaining student files, updating bulletin boards, making copies and distributing materials, supporting after-school and family events, modeling/promoting a cohesive school culture, supporting and covering in classrooms, and supporting the school as directed by the Principal.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) required.
- At least 2 years of experience in an urban school setting.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
