About the Role
Facilitates patient flow through the system from scheduling through registration check-in, ensuring a seamless registration and scheduling experience. Responsible for gathering demographic and financial information, verifying insurance, collecting patient liability, and scheduling appointments. This role may involve working weekends, evenings, overnights, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients, physicians, staff, co-workers, and guests professionally and promptly.
- Check patients into the system and provide directions.
- Acknowledge and assist patients with special needs while respecting confidentiality.
- Respond to telephone calls according to customer service standards and provide requested information.
- Perform accurate patient searches within the hospital system to maintain EMPI integrity.
- Establish and schedule appointments accurately following designated protocols.
- Enter accurate demographic and financial information into the system.
- Verify insurance eligibility and execute payor requirements.
- Provide estimates for services and actively solicit patient liability.
- Enter testing orders in the appropriate system, understanding coding and procedural protocols.
- Obtain signatures for all required consents and notifications.
- Remain compliant and knowledgeable with Department Policies and Procedures.
- Fulfill compliance responsibilities including HIPAA, EMTALA, and Patient Bill of Rights.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum of 2 years of job-related experience.
- Basic MS Word & MS Excel proficiency.
- Customer service skills.
