About the Role
Our client, an established and growing international manufacturing organization with its US headquarters in WNY, is looking to add a Controls Engineer to their growing team.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily design, development, and implementation responsibilities that support industrial automation and drive manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently.
- Design, program, and maintain PLC-based control systems for automated manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical, automation, and control system issues to determine the root cause.
- Create corrective action plans and ensure swift implementation to minimize downtime and improve operational performance.
- Analyze and modify PLC programs, HMI applications, and associated control system software, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Review and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical documentation to support system design, troubleshooting, and implementation.
- Provide support for new equipment commissioning, startup activities, system upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
- Partner with internal team members to identify root causes of equipment and process issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Ensure control system designs and modifications maintain compliance with applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal engineering specifications.
- Maintain accurate documentation of control system changes, including software revisions, I/O modifications, and logic updates.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement emerging automation technologies, including robotics, machine vision, motion control, and advanced manufacturing solutions.
- Support efforts to improve system reliability, equipment performance, process consistency, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in industrial automation and controls systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in PLC programming/troubleshooting; experience with multiple PLC platforms & automation architectures.
- Experience with motion control, robotics, and/or vision systems.
- Ability to read and interpret control drawings and electrical schematics.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; Visa sponsorship is not available.
