About the Role
This role oversees daily office operations, supports the front desk team, and ensures patient scheduling, insurance verification, and authorizations are managed effectively within a growing gastroenterology practice.
Responsibilities
- Supervise front desk staff and coordinate schedules, vacation coverage, and absences.
- Oversee patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and authorizations.
- Review upcoming procedures to confirm required authorizations are complete and documented.
- Serve as the main point of contact for staff needing help resolving operational issues.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, and staff management.
- Coordinate with physicians, nurse practitioners, referring primary care offices, imaging providers, and pharmaceutical representatives.
- Manage office supplies and assist at the front desk during busy periods.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office, including staff supervision or office operations.
- Strong understanding of patient scheduling, insurance coverage, billing processes, and prior authorizations.
- Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Gastroenterology practice experience is highly preferred; primary care experience is also relevant.
- Experience with MD Land is a plus, but training is available.
