About the Role
The Director, Facilities Design is responsible for overseeing design projects for Sysco's global operations, including conceptual design of new and renovated facilities, floorplans, site plans, and elevations. This role collaborates with various departments and external design teams to develop facility designs that meet business needs and ensures the archiving and maintenance of all facility design documents.
Responsibilities
- Lead the activities of 8 Sysco direct employees in planning, preliminary design, layout iterations, RFP documentation, and final design coordination for multiple projects nationwide.
- Coordinate with and manage multiple outside design professionals and consultants.
- Lead design teams responsible for distribution facilities.
- Develop and maintain design and construction standards for Sysco distribution projects.
- Ensure DC designs incorporate best operational practices and state-of-the-art materials and equipment.
- Ensure corporate sustainability goals are achieved in facility designs.
- Lead design teams responsible for manufacturing and processing facilities design.
- Develop and maintain unique design and construction standards for Sysco manufacturing projects.
- Ensure manufacturing designs incorporate best operational practices and state-of-the-art materials and equipment.
- Lead design teams responsible for office facilities.
- Lead the Interior Design and Space Planning team for all Sysco projects.
- Collaborate with real estate, construction, and business teams to develop conceptual layouts.
- Develop the best organizational structure to execute construction and processing design projects.
- Recruit, develop, motivate, and retain top-talent individuals for the design organization.
- Create and implement onboarding, training, and associate development plans.
- Create and develop plans for necessary tools for design and construction teams, including software and hardware.
- Create and implement plans for communicating information to all design and construction professionals.
Requirements
- A Bachelors's degree in Architectural, Engineering, or Construction Management is required.
- Process engineering experience required with a focus on meat.
- Experience with food processing or food distribution facilities projects required.
- Experience successfully leading teams of professionals in a corporate setting required.
- Robust PC skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project and AutoCAD) required.
- Knowledge of construction contracts including lien and bonding processes required.
