Responsibilities

• Unlocking and locking exterior doors and classrooms, and custodial cleaning work in academic buildings.
• Work according to established procedures using prescribed equipment.
• Maintain work schedule as assigned.
• Willingly accept work assignments.
• Perform overtime before and after shift, on weekends, holidays, and for emergency response.
• Abide by work rules as described in employee orientations and applicable policies and procedures.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, following uniform policy.
• Be dependable and report to work on time.
• Be cooperative, working effectively with others and independently.
• Readily accept work assignments and supervision.
• Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of job tasks or training subjects.
• Attend training as scheduled.
• Follow training guidelines as instructed.
• Ensure no lost time injuries due to unsafe work practices or failure to follow procedures.
• Regularly use PPE, safety shoes, and safety equipment.
• Perform all tasks within established safety guidelines as instructed.
• Report unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
• Maintain a valid driver's license.
• Maintain an acceptable UT driver's rating.
• Safely operate UT vehicles.
• Secure buildings and rooms on schedule and/or after cleaning as appropriate.
• Follow correct unlocking, locking, and alarm procedures as instructed.
• Follow key control/access card procedures and guidelines.
• Carry UT ID at all times during work hours.
• Perform set up of table linens and other items for special events.
• Provide on-duty cleaning and event support.
• Clean up after emergencies such as floods.
• Perform mandatory overtime which may be required with little or no advance notice.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Six months of experience in custodial, hospitality, environmental services, warehouse, production, or facilities maintenance.
• Experience following basic work instructions.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions.
• Must be able to communicate via two-way radio.
• Basic reading skills to understand work orders, product labels, and other written job materials.
• Stable work history.
• Strong attendance record.
• Ability to walk 3 to 5 miles daily.
• Must have a reliable means of communicating with the department outside of work by phone.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
• Requires a class "C" operator's driver's license.
• Must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
• If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
• Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing.
• Resume/CV.
• 3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisor.

Salary/Compensations

• $18,720+ depending on qualifications annually (Annualized salary based upon 20 hours per week)
