About the Role
The Perisurg Assistant performs duties to assist in the safe treatment and care of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, following established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist RN with direct patient care, including personal hygiene, safety, comfort, and skin care.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as directed.
- Distribute water and other nourishments as directed.
- Assist and/or transport patients in a timely and safe manner.
- Collect and transport specimens, maintaining regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate purposeful rounding and prioritize call bell responses.
- Demonstrate caring behaviors.
- Communicate patient information, including pain and condition, to the RN and back to the patient as needed.
- Respond immediately to emergency situations as directed or trained.
- Maintain unit environmental cleanliness, equipment cleanliness, and inventory par levels.
- Follow hospital policy for cleaning and disinfecting patient care equipment.
- Support administrative decisions and changes within the department.
- Demonstrate knowledge of unit/department performance initiatives.
- Maintain professional competency and seek opportunities for self-growth.
- Maintain Continuing Education hours relevant to the clinical area.
- Complete required hospital and unit-based competencies by due dates.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- Knowledge of computer systems and/or prior clerical experience preferred.
- Ability to interpret medical terminology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

- High School Diploma or equivalent
Salary/Compensations
- USD $27.19 - USD $40.80 /Hr.
