About the Role
The House PA/NP will function as support to the Medical Staff of St. Joseph Hospital by facilitating the evaluation and treatment of patients in the hospital. The House Staff will respond to requests to evaluate patients from the Members of Medical Staff and other members of the hospital clinical staff. Patients will be evaluated and treatment initiated in cooperation with the appropriate treating physician. The physician assistant/ NY will assist in the compliance with quality of care metrics and be an advocate for excellent patient care while promoting service excellence at all times. The House Staff is expected to provide hospital wide coverage to the nursing units on a 24 hour a day, seven day per week basis.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the evaluation and treatment of patients in the hospital.
- Respond to requests to evaluate patients from Medical Staff and other clinical staff.
- Initiate treatment in cooperation with the appropriate treating physician.
- Assist in compliance with quality of care metrics.
- Advocate for excellent patient care and promote service excellence.
- Provide hospital-wide coverage to nursing units on a 24/7 basis.
Requirements
- Completion of a course of study in an Accredited Physician Assistant Program.
- An unrestricted license as a Physician Assistant in the State of New York.
- Completion of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
- An unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of New York.
- Completion of the Fundamental of Critical Care Course or equivalent within 6 months of hire.
- Maintain BLS and ACLS certification.
