About the Role
The Machinist V will work from drawings and/or written instructions, set up and operate a variety of manual or CNC machinery and equipment to produce precision parts.
Responsibilities
- Operates multiple machines at multiple work centers and performs specific machinist functions.
- Sets up and troubleshoots machines at multiple work centers.
- Proves out new part programs for production or engineering cell.
- Collaborates with programming/engineering on blueprints and programs.
- Provides instruction, training, and leadership to employees in other positions within the Machine Shop.
- Recommends and implements process improvements to increase productivity and gain efficiencies.
- Verifies conformance of finished work to ensure compliance to tolerance and company specifications.
- Identifies dull or worn inserts or tools and makes changes as necessary.
- Makes tool offsets as required.
- Completes preventative maintenance as required.
- Regularly uses microscope and other high-end measuring equipment to view and inspect parts.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
Requirements
- High school graduate, GED, BOCES Machine Shop classes, or Skilled trade school graduate.
- 5 years of machine shop experience.
- Advanced shop math skills.
- Advanced blueprint reading skills.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience of CNC/Manual machines.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in order of operations.
- Ability to apply concepts of trigonometry.
- Advanced inspection measuring equipment knowledge.
- Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology prior to beginning work.
