About the Role
Lyft is seeking software engineers to build, improve, and incorporate technologies that enrich the lives of their community. As an engineer at Lyft, you will collaborate with teams like product, data science, analytics, and operations on code that empowers rapid iteration and delights passengers and drivers. The Rider organization focuses on building a seamless, best-in-class rideshare experience for riders, from requesting a ride to tailored interactions. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Rider Team, you will collaborate with various teams across Lyft, driving innovation to improve the rider experience.
Responsibilities
- Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable code.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge.
- Participate in the team's on-call rotation, identifying, triaging, debugging, and resolving issues/bugs across applications and platforms.
- Explain the various trade-offs made in decisions.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Partner with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to build complex features and products from idea to execution.
- Analyze internal systems and processes to identify areas for improvement/automation.
- Share knowledge through brown bags, tech talks, and by promoting appropriate tech and engineering best practices.
- Provide technical mentorship and feedback to junior engineers.
- Help establish roadmap and architecture based on technology and company needs.
Requirements
- BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering industry experience.
- Solid knowledge of distributed systems, relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience designing, debugging, and running fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience working with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, etc.).
- Experience working with Kubernetes and container technologies (e.g., Docker, cri-o, etc.).
- Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, and cross-functional team.

- CAD $136,000 - CAD $170,000
