About the Role
Oversees the daily operations and long-term planning for energy demand, decarbonization, and driving strategic energy conservation initiatives across the institution.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a team focused on energy management, carbon reduction, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory compliance across the main campus and the outlying WCM real estate portfolio.
- Identify and formalize institutional campus energy reduction and sustainability goals, communicating them to the WCM community, senior leadership, and department sustainability stakeholders.
- Formalize goals within an action plan identifying focus areas for compliance.
- Drive projects supporting goals and collaborate with department stakeholders to ensure progress, reporting on goals and progress semi-annually.
- Chair an energy and sustainability council to review progress against institutional goals and action plans.
- Set target goals for campus energy reduction and oversee the development of measurement metrics and utility dashboards for real-time tracking.
- Provide subject expertise on energy, carbon reduction, and sustainability measures, offering input on standards, capital projects, consultant selection, regulatory response, and requests.
- Explore grant funding and rebate programs to offset costs for energy and sustainability initiatives, establishing detailed project budgets and ROIs.
- Oversee programs to advance energy and sustainability measures, including speaker series, community training, and technical operations improvements.
- Stay current with energy management and sustainability regulations and evaluate/roll out supportive technologies.
Requirements
- Degree in engineering, environmental science, or another related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with energy and sustainability projects.
- Field-related licenses and certifications are a plus.
Skills
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex interrelationships between multiple utility systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Excellent communication, planning, organizing and problem solving skills.
- Experience with effectively managing and developing budgets.
- Solid organizational skills and detail oriented.

Salary/Compensations
- $125,000.00 - $148,000.00
