About the Role

Performs highly complex (senior-level) custodial work in state supported living centers, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met. This role involves managing cleaning supplies, providing backup support, and assisting the custodial manager in overseeing daily functions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs highly complex cleaning and sanitizing tasks in residents’ homes, bedrooms, office spaces, medical and activity areas.
  • Conducts inspections of buildings and equipment to ensure cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Manages the inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Provides backup support to other custodians.
  • Supports the custodial manager in overseeing and planning general custodial functions.
  • Keeps accurate records of custodial activities, including cleaning schedules, maintenance tasks, and incidents.
  • Analyzes current custodial operations to identify areas for efficiency and effectiveness improvement.
  • Ensures buildings and cleaning equipment are properly maintained and repaired.
  • Monitors inventory levels and restocks cleaning materials.
  • Acts as lead to other custodians and backs up Custodial Manager in times of absence.
  • Assists the Custodial Manager in assigning tasks, creating schedules, and organizing training sessions.
  • Records details of custodial activities, maintenance tasks, and any issues that arise.
  • Assesses all aspects of custodial operations, including cleaning processes, equipment usage, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Conducts routine inspections of buildings and cleaning equipment to identify wear, damage, or malfunction.
  • Implements a preventive maintenance program for the facility and cleaning equipment.
  • Cleans and maintains custodial equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Coordinates repairs and upgrades to facility infrastructure and cleaning equipment.
  • Attends work regularly and may be required to work specific shift schedules, extended shifts, or overtime.
  • May serve in an on-call status as required.
  • Cleans various areas within the facility, including living areas, residents’ rooms, office spaces, medical activity areas, corridors, and restrooms.
  • Uses appropriate cleaning agents and techniques to eliminate pathogens and maintain a sterile environment.
  • Handles biohazardous materials, disinfects medical equipment, and cleans sensitive areas.
  • Tracks cleaning supplies and equipment in an appropriate database.
  • Monitors stock levels of cleaning supplies and equipment to ensure adequate supply.
  • Initiates the process of reordering supplies.
  • Properly stores and organizes cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Checks incoming supplies and equipment for quality and accuracy.
  • Tracks usage patterns of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Advises Custodial Manager of discrepancies in inventory.
  • Maintains accurate records of inventory levels, orders placed, and received items.
  • Reports any discrepancies in inventory.
  • Acts as lead to other custodians and backs up Custodial Manager in times of absence.
  • Provides backup support to other custodians as needed.
  • Collaborates with other custodians to ensure smooth operations.
  • Works closely with the custodial manager to assist in managing the custodial team.
  • Assists the Custodial Manager in assigning tasks to custodial staff.
  • Collaborates with the manager to create and manage custodial schedules.
  • Supports the Custodial Manager in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Assists in organizing training sessions for custodial staff.
  • Records details of various custodial activities, including cleaning schedules, maintenance tasks, and any incidents or issues.
  • Maintains a log of cleaning schedules.
  • Documents maintenance tasks performed.
  • Notes any issues or concerns related to custodial activities.
  • Assesses all aspects of the custodial operations.
  • Gathers cleaning logs, maintenance records, and incident reports.
  • Analyzes the workflow of custodial activities.
  • Evaluates how resources are allocated.
  • Conducts routine inspections of buildings and cleaning equipment.
  • Implements a preventive maintenance program.
  • Regularly cleans and maintains custodial equipment.
  • Coordinates repairs and upgrades to facility infrastructure and cleaning equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Participates and/or serves in a supporting role to meet agency obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date to drive a state vehicle.
  • Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
  • Eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy.
  • Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks.
  • Males between the ages of 18 – 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Applicants selected for hire may be required to pass background and other due diligence checks.
  • Must bring I-9 documentation on the first day of work.

  • $3,170.92 - $4,149.83 Monthly
