About the Role

The rehab services aide works under the close supervision of a licensed physical therapist or occupational therapist and performs routine tasks or treatments. The aide will assist the therapist in treating patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. They help these patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working.

Responsibilities

Sets up patient for treatment as requested by therapist.
Sets up patient treatment area with specific equipment, supplies and manipulation for each patient evaluation or follow up session.
Secures patients into or onto therapy equipment.
Safeguards, motivates, and assists patients in practicing exercises and functional activities under the direction of therapist.
Responds to patient phone calls and performs other clerical duties as needed.
Cleans and organizes treatment area and disinfects used equipment.
Make inventory lists and orders supplies.
Maintains equipment and requests service as needed.
Checks crash cart daily and monthly to ensure appropriate supplies.
Restocks after use as needed.
Complies with applicable policies and procedures and supports the Compliance Program.
Contributes to organizational operations by performing other duties as may be required.

Requirements

Knowledge of proper lifting techniques when assisting patients or carrying heavy objects.
Ability to maintain a good interpersonal relationship with others and work effectively to solve problems and issues.
Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform a variety of clinical procedures relevant to practice area.
Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.
Ability to communicate with patients and staff effectively.
Exposed to possible blood borne pathogens, infectious waste and radiation.
Exposed to a variety of clinical conditions, technologies and environmental settings.
Ability to lift/carry equipment up to 50 pounds and to move apparatus as needed.
Ability to transfer patients safely.
