About the Role

The Summer College Internship Program is a 10-week paid internship experience designed for undergraduate and graduate students. It offers opportunities to attend development workshops, network with professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects. Interns receive mentorship and develop skills throughout the summer, with a focus on key business concepts. The program spans from the first Monday in June to the second Friday in August, with up to 40 hours per week. Housing is not provided.

Responsibilities

  • Support key strategic initiatives across the Commercial Markets Sales and Account Service organization.
  • Gain exposure to health insurance, sales operations, account management, customer experience, and business analytics.
  • Work closely with Sales, Account Service, Marketing, Training, and Leadership teams on various projects.
  • Improve tools, resources, and information used by the Commercial Markets Sales and Account Service teams.
  • Identify common challenges and opportunities for improvement by meeting with Sales and Account Service associates, managers, and business partners.
  • Evaluate current sales resources, training materials, Teams channels, SharePoint sites, WebCRD content, and other commonly used tools.
  • Identify gaps, duplicate content, and inefficiencies impacting productivity and onboarding.
  • Develop and organize standardized program overviews, educational resources, and quick-reference tools.
  • Create a centralized "Where to Go For..." guide for efficient resource location.
  • Research best practices in sales enablement, knowledge management, and onboarding.
  • Explore potential uses of Microsoft Copilot and AI tools to improve information access and team productivity.
  • Present recommendations to Commercial Markets leadership outlining opportunities for improvement.
  • Works with a mentor and supports key strategic projects.
  • Completes work assignments based on business needs, departmental priorities, and individual qualifications.
  • Performs a mix of technical and/or non-technical tasks covering a broad range of business-related projects.
  • Creates and delivers presentations at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the company's mission and values.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protection of member privacy.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program).
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences and interface with staff at all levels of the company.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a team, establishing good working relationships with peers.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and prioritization skills.
  • Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as on intra- and inter- departmental teams as needed.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment.
  • Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation viewing a computer and using a keyboard, mouse and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.
  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or training courses as needed.
