About the Role

The Summer College Internship Program is a 10-week paid internship experience designed for undergraduate and graduate students. It offers opportunities to attend development workshops, network with professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects. Interns receive mentorship and develop skills throughout the summer, with a focus on key business concepts. The program runs for 10 weeks, from the first Monday in June to the second Friday in August, with up to 40 hours per week. Housing is not provided.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and verify audit information for BCBSA in support of the FEP IPA audit.
  • Collect, verify accuracy, and ensure compliance of audit data.
  • Verify data submitted by other Operations Auditors.
  • Learn and participate in the Dental Claims audit.
  • Forward errors to the Operational area and respond to questions on findings.
  • Compile month-end data.
  • Attend Ops Audit meetings to review potential findings and provide feedback.
  • Work with a mentor to support key strategic projects.
  • Complete work assignments based on business needs, departmental priorities, and individual qualifications.
  • Perform a mix of technical and/or non-technical tasks covering a broad range of business-related projects.
  • Create and deliver presentations at the completion of the internship.
  • Demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the company's mission and values.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protection of member privacy.
  • Attend work reliably and regularly.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program).
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences and interface with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work well in a team and establish good working relationships with peers.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as on teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment.
  • Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation viewing a computer and using a keyboard, mouse and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.
  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or training courses as needed.
