About the Role
This role is for students qualified for Work-Study. You will tutor and mentor local students in grades 7-12 in various subjects, making a difference in the community. An information session with the Director/Assistant Director is required before starting.
Responsibilities
- Tutor students in grades 7-12 to enhance their academic support system
- In-person Mentor at Schenectady Middle Schools (Tuesday/Thursday 3-5pm)
- Help run Saturday STEM workshops (usually 9am-1pm)
- Report notes to the STEP Staff
- Help with administrative work within the department
- Create programming and experiences for the STEP Students
Requirements
- Must be a student qualified for Work-Study
- Must be passionate about working with students in grades 7-12
- Personable, trustworthy and detail-oriented individuals
- Great overall communication skills
- Able to communicate well in-person, over the phone, or over Zoom

About the Company
- The Science and Technology Entry Program was established in 1985 by the NYS Legislature to prepare historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students for entry into post-secondary degree programs in math, science, technology, health-related fields, and licensed professions.
