About the Role
The Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital provides comprehensive counseling to alcohol/substance dependent patients as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. This role involves patient assessment, treatment plan development, and acting as a liaison with external agencies and families.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive counseling to alcohol/substance dependent patients.
- Perform complete assessment of each patient.
- Identify areas of patient need.
- Develop individualized treatment plans.
- Evaluate effectiveness of treatment.
- Help patients focus on maintaining total abstinence.
- Facilitate strong connections to 12 Step self-help programs.
- Act as a liaison with outside alcohol/substance abuse related agencies.
- Serve as a treatment care coordinator for patients.
Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, writing and analytical skills.
- CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) certification.
- Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association.
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
- Must live within a commutable distance to NYP.
