About the Role
Processing Technicians are essential for the diagnosis and treatment of patients by supporting laboratory technologists in completing tests that drive high-quality care. This role involves patient registration, processing requisitions, accessioning, specimen collection via venipuncture, centrifugation, sample aliquoting, labeling, and distribution for testing.
Responsibilities
- Register patients
- Process requisition forms
- Perform accessioning functions
- Collect patient specimens through venipuncture and other methods
- Conduct centrifugation
- Separate samples into aliquots
- Label specimens
- Distribute specimens to appropriate laboratory sections for testing
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years experience in specimen processing
- Prior data entry experience
- Must live within a commutable distance to NYP
