About the Role
General Motors is seeking motivated individuals for potential future opportunities as a Senior Systems Configurator - SAP Functional Analyst to design, configure, and support SAP solutions across Source-to-Deliver, Make-to-Ship, and Order-to-Delivery value chains. This role supports GM's transformation in transportation and involves working with various SAP modules and S/4HANA.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design, configure, and support SAP solutions.
- Implement scalable SAP processes and ensure alignment with industry best practices and GM’s IT Solution Delivery Methodology.
- Optimize business operations and support/extend SAP modules.
- Drive process improvements through automation and standardization.
- Design and build new SAP-based landscapes.
- Translate business needs into robust, integrated SAP configurations and functional designs.
- Optimize business operations in areas such as Order Management, Pricing, Billing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Direct Material Sourcing & Procurement, Purchasing, Production Planning & Execution, Warehousing, and Master Data.
- Support GM’s journey to S/4HANA and SaaS-first solutions.
- Lead SAP configuration and solution design for core business processes.
- Oversee financial postings, cost allocations, and supplier collaboration.
- Support sourcing, procurement, supplier management, production planning, logistics, inventory control, warehouse management, and goods movement processes.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver SAP solutions.
- Participate in testing, validation, and deployment of SAP enhancements and new functionalities.
- Support integration of SAP with external systems.
- Help evaluate and rationalize the existing manufacturing, supply chain, and order management application landscape.
- Participate in SAP upgrades, migrations, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Apply standard SAP functionality to meet business needs, minimizing custom development.
- Contribute to application management and production support, including issue triage and root-cause analysis.
- Create and maintain process documentation, configuration guides, and training materials.
- Mentor junior team members and promote best practices.
- Adhere to organizational IT standards, security protocols, and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Several years of hands-on SAP experience, including configuration of one or more relevant modules (SD, FI-CO, MM, WM, EWM, PP, DMe/DMC, Ariba, S/4HANA).
- Strong understanding of SAP principles and extensibility approaches.
- Solid business process knowledge in areas such as Order Management, Pricing, Billing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Direct Material Sourcing & Procurement, Purchasing, Production Planning, Warehousing, and Master Data.
- Experience supporting integration with other SAP modules and external systems.
- Familiarity with software testing, automation, and quality assurance practices.
- Ability to debug and analyze SAP systems, preferably with some ABAP knowledge.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement, teamwork, and integrity.
- Willingness to learn new SAP and cloud capabilities.
