About the Role
CBS News is seeking a Senior Digital Producer to develop and edit videos for YouTube and other platforms, create original content concepts, maintain content calendars, and draft news alerts. This is a hands-on role requiring the ability to manage projects from concept to completion, including scripting, shooting, packaging, and editing content, with the flexibility to respond to breaking news.
Responsibilities
- Creates and publishes original videos including news-of-day, long-form thematic content, marathons, archive content, and short-form slips.
- Clips and publishes video segments, writes SEO-friendly headlines and descriptions, and selects and crops thumbnails.
- Ensures all necessary video content is uploaded to CBSNews.com, YouTube, and Paramount+ (& other partners), adhering to guidelines and facilitating necessary changes.
- Publishes original video content for CBSNews.com and YouTube, maintaining a content calendar and ensuring content clearance.
- Maintains, curates, and updates assigned CBS News brand YouTube channels.
- Requests and sets up YouTube live streams, managing slates and OTT presence.
- Coordinates with talent, correspondents, and producers for booking, shooting, and producing long-form content for YouTube repurposing.
- Drafts and sends breaking news and segmented push alerts across multiple platforms.
- Coordinates detailed rollout plans for specials, documentaries, and major news events, including promotional plans.
- Maintains a content calendar and contributes to planning meetings, collaborating with the SEO team on coverage plans.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience producing content in a fast-paced digital media environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Strong portfolio of video editing work.
- Well-developed understanding of media production workflows, including asset management and production platforms.
- Strong interest in breaking news and current events, with an eye for compelling stories and trends.
- Exemplary writing and self-editing skills, with the ability to draft copy quickly and accurately.
- Proficiency with analytics platforms, such as YouTube Studio, Adobe Analytics, and Chartbeat.
