About the Role
Under general supervision, the incumbent performs a variety of millwright work in the area of responsibility, ensuring ethical, safe, and high-quality workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings, orthographic, pictorial, and schematic.
- Use a variety of measuring tools, hand tools, and power tools.
- Perform rigging and hoisting for heavy, awkward equipment.
- Maintain prime movers, including gears, belt pulleys, sheaves, chain sprockets, bearings, and bearing housings.
- Maintain and rebuild pumps, motors, fans, and gas turbines, including associated equipment.
- Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems and equipment.
- Perform arc welding.
- Prepare sketches.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certificate of Qualification (Red Seal).
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act as it pertains to Trade Regulations (industrial & construction), and WHMIS.
- Experience working with machines, tools, and equipment associated with Millwright duties.
- Competent in welding and fabricating skills.
- Mechanical and mathematical aptitude to calculate dimensions and tolerances.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to perform duties as described.
- Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
- Tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to keep up-to-date with changing technology and techniques congruent to the trade.
