About the Role
This role supports clinical, educational, and academic programs within a fast-paced environment, focusing on optimizing provider schedules and coordinating patient care.
Responsibilities
- Performs complex secretarial and administrative duties.
- Manages provider(s) calendar and prioritizes appointments.
- Optimizes provider schedules and coordinates patient care.
- Gathers necessary information for referrals and prior authorizations.
- Composes, edits, and obtains signatures for correspondence.
- Arranges travel, conference registration, and hotel accommodations.
- Researches hospital medical records for requested information.
- Determines the order of daily surgeries and ambulatory procedures.
- Negotiates surgical/procedure schedules with relevant staff.
- Authorizes overbooking and rearranging of surgeon's Operating Room schedules.
- Orders necessary surgical/procedure equipment, devices, and medication.
- Ensures patient education and follow-up details are appropriate.
- Assembles necessary details from electronic medical records for paperwork.
- Assesses patient calls, prioritizes medical concerns, and obtains provider responses.
- Serves as main point of contact for patients pre and post-operative.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma and 2 years of relevant experience required.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
Skills
- Demonstrated customer relations skills required.
- Medical Terminology preferred.
- Experience with surgical/appointment scheduling software (such as Flowcast) preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
