About the Role
Alpha Financial Markets Consulting (Alpha) is a leading global consultancy to the financial services industry. We are looking for individuals to join our team to support our growth journey, identifying and implementing solutions for a range of issues facing insurance companies. You will collect and analyze data, prepare and test hypotheses, and present recommendations to the client to solve their unique business challenge.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines, data integration solutions, and data architecture.
- Ensure efficient and scalable data storage, processing, and analytics using Snowflake.
- Identify and implement solutions for a range of issues facing insurance companies.
- Collect and analyze data, prepare and test hypotheses, and present recommendations to the client.
- Play a proactive supporting role in driving programs forward and engaging directly with client stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience (4+ years) as a Senior Data Engineer.
- Hands-on experience in Snowflake typically required.
- Proficiency in Qlik Replicate, Compose, and Github, DBTLabs & Astronomer for data integration, replication, and transformation.
- Strong understanding of data engineering principles, data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
- Expertise in Snowflake, including data ingestion, storage, performance optimization, and security.
- Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure, and working with cloud-based data solutions and services.
- Familiarity with data quality, data governance, and data lifecycle management practices.
- Solid programming skills in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for data manipulation and automation.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Management, Business Analytics, Economics, Engineering, or related disciplines.
- At least 4 years of proven consulting experience at a recognized consulting firm or through an ‘in-house’ consulting / business analyst role at a leading financial institution.
- Experience within financial services, preferably within the insurance industry.
- Excellent consulting and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with recognized project and consulting frameworks and business process mapping.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical, and impactful manner.
- Executive presentation skills.
- Proven track record of building and sustaining lasting relationships with team members.
- Appetite to support clients across our practice areas.
- Intellectual capacity and ability to think in new, innovative ways to understand complex issues and develop creative solutions.
- Ability to comfortably multi-task and engage in multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Flexibility to travel up to 50%.
