About the Role
The floater oversees the environment in an assigned classroom, assuring child health and safety, helping to support appropriate curriculum, and building positive relationships with children, parents and staff.
Responsibilities
- Room coverage at lunch, for additional prep/ writing time opportunities and classroom coverage to support students/classrooms having difficulty napping/teachers that are in training and as necessary.
- Office duties, answering phones, reception coverage.
- Maintain classroom management, sanitation and safety and support student transitions.
- Provide a normal routine by maintaining daily schedule adherence.
- Keep classroom staff, and school administration informed concerning children, and issues.
- Maintain the Agency’s policies and procedures.
- Attend on-going training.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years and older.
- Willingness to obtain New York State Teaching Assistant Certification.
- A desire to work with children through positive interaction.
- Prior experience preferred but not necessary.
- Must be dependable, flexible, and a team player.
