About the Role
The Field Supervisor is responsible for managing the duties, performance, and relations of Explosive Detection Canine (EDC) Handlers, ensuring client satisfaction and adherence to best business practices within the canine group.
Responsibilities
- Provide input into the development of employee standards of performances and conduct as well as post standard operating procedures.
- Work directly with clients, assess client satisfaction, identify areas of concern, and initiate corrective actions.
- Manage client relationships and ensure contract obligations and MSA compliance are met.
- Train and retrain team members using best-practice industry knowledge and experience.
- Assess and recommend discipline for Handlers, up to and including termination.
- Implement and enforce employee Standards of Performance and Conduct.
- Supervise the execution of Post Standard Operating Procedures, including client-specific requirements.
- Review post orders and assignment details with employees, ensuring understanding.
- Coach, discipline, and provide feedback to personnel, documenting actions.
- Monitor subordinates to ensure professional behavior.
- Serve as the direct representative of MSA Security Leadership and Management to the field.
- Conduct initial inquiries and investigations into allegations of employee misconduct or SOP violations.
- Recommend policies and procedures for maximizing efficiency, effectiveness, safety, and performance.
- Interview, select, and train new hires.
- Complete administrative paperwork and maintain necessary records.
- Coordinate with other MSA departments to ensure reliable operations.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, security license and/or other required licensing and credentialing.
- Certification as a TSA regulated 3PK9 certified EDC Team, or ability to obtain such certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience with civilian law enforcement or military explosive detection handler.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an MSA Explosive Detection Canine Handler.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher).
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees and clients.
- Excellent time management skills; ability to balance multiple competing tasks in a time-compressed environment while generating quality results.
- Possess adequate living environment for proper exercise and training of the canine.
- Access to reliable transportation sufficient for safe canine transportation.
- Willingness and ability to be available for incident/emergency response duty, standby duty, and client demonstrations, including various days and hours.

- $80,000 - $85,000 annually
