About the Role

Metro Therapy, Inc. is seeking a School Psychologist to perform specialized psychological work in an educational setting to enable students to achieve optimal learning. The role involves assessing students, providing comprehensive services to parents, students, and school staff, and addressing barriers to educational success.

Responsibilities

• Collect, interpret, and synthesize information about a student's functioning, including sensory motor/perceptual, academic achievement, intelligence, social/emotional adjustment, and crises influencing behavior.
• Provide comprehensive services to parents, students, and school staff, addressing barriers to educational success.
• Respond to referrals by providing direct and consultative services.
• Assist families in accessing appropriate community resources.
• Serve on student support teams and special education committees as a resource for psychological services.
• Select and administer age-appropriate assessment methods to determine student needs.
• Consult with teachers and other school personnel regarding referrals.
• Review student records to identify previous barriers and interventions.
• Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary assessment team, participating in placement decisions, intervention planning, and program development.
• Communicate case findings and recommendations to teachers and school personnel.
• Participate in eligibility committee meetings and contribute to Individualized Education Plan (IEP) development.
• Conduct parent interviews (phone, in-person, home visits) to gather socio-developmental information.
• Analyze assessment data, observations, record reviews, and interviews to determine environmental impacts and resource needs.
• Integrate findings into written reports and oral presentations.
• Provide follow-up support and re-evaluation services.
• Attend and participate in Manifestation meetings.
• Interview students and parents to discuss non-attendance issues and develop action plans.
• Assist the school in following regulations for excessive absences and truancy.
• Develop and implement professional development training for educational staff and parents.
• Act as a member of the school crisis team and provide individual/group counseling during crises.
• Participate in professional development activities focused on current trends and best practices.
• Serve as a liaison between students, home, school, private counseling facilities, and community resources.
• Maintain an ongoing liaison with community agencies and refer parents/students when appropriate.
• Manage caseload, upcoming meetings, assessments, and consultations in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
