About the Role
The Communication & Signal Inspector will perform inspections of communication, electronic, network, wireless, and railroad/transit signaling equipment. This role requires technical knowledge of communication systems, signal systems, electro-mechanical equipment, solid-state equipment, and relevant industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Inspect communication and electronic equipment.
- Inspect amplifiers, boosters, network systems, and wireless communication systems.
- Inspect railroad and transit signaling equipment, including relays and signal components.
- Verify compliance with AREMA, Authority specifications, and applicable industry standards.
- Review technical documentation and inspection records.
- Report deficiencies and support material acceptance decisions.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in science or engineering.
- Minimum of five years of specialization in relevant communication, signal, electronic, railroad, or transit equipment fields.
- Experience inspecting communication and electronic equipment.
- Knowledge of industry guidelines, specifications, and relevant standards.
- For signal inspection, experience inspecting railroad or transit signaling equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of AREMA and other applicable industry specifications and standards.
- Experience inspecting amplifiers, boosters, network communications, and wireless communications.
- Experience inspecting relays and other electro-mechanical or solid-state signaling equipment.
- Transit or rail system inspection experience.
