About the Role
The Research + Innovation Director will increase Tipping Point’s impact through insights from research, monitoring, and evaluation activities. This role advises the Program Team on the most effective ways to test new solutions, informed by community need and aligned with overall impact goals. The Director will communicate new ideas, knowledge, and results to diverse audiences through various channels.
Responsibilities
- Lead the ongoing development and execution of Tipping Point’s learning agendas in new investment areas and cross-cutting topics.
- Serve as a thought partner to synthesize findings and improve grantmaking and policy change strategies.
- Lead workshops and discussions with grantees on learning and evaluation topics.
- Serve as research/content lead for rapid-turnaround monitoring and learning opportunities.
- Stay current on external research, sector trends, and emerging approaches to poverty alleviation.
- Provide high-quality analytical support for measuring grantee and portfolio outcomes, capacity building, and pilot investment impact.
- Lead development, implementation, monitoring, and analysis of outcomes for new investments and policy efforts.
- Provide decision-making support on learning and evaluation issues.
- Lead measurement of the impact of Tipping Point’s Capacity Building activities.
- Lead, scope, and design research projects and studies.
- Synthesize research findings and generate actionable lessons linked to Tipping Point’s strategy.
- Lead exploration of new research opportunities.
- Serve as a resource for communications efforts, connecting research and policy to program areas.
- Translate and synthesize research learnings for diverse audiences.
- Communicate key messages through presentations, trainings, blog posts, articles, and case studies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Experience or aptitude with statistical, survey, graphical, and CRM tools.
- Experience researching social-sector topics using quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
- Strong understanding of internal and external factors impacting clients' abilities to create greater impact.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially as it relates to research, evaluation, and organizational culture.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to make technical information clear to non-technical audiences.
- Intellectual curiosity; strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
