About the Role
The Claims Adjuster Auto Physical Damage contributes to Wawanesa's goals of delivering an exceptional and consistent member (policy holder) experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of auto physical damage claims. This role is responsible for applying and explaining policy coverages and documenting claim files through the life of a claim. The role is accountable for providing timely service and prompt management of your claims from initial report to conclusion.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction and support to members throughout the claims process, delivering exceptional service with empathy.
- Ensure timely and proactive communication through voice, digital, and written correspondence.
- Adjust low complexity auto physical damage claims.
- Review and interpret policy wordings, determine policy coverage, and communicate coverage decisions to members.
- Establish timely and accurate loss and expense reserves through claim evaluation.
- Conduct comprehensive investigations to determine coverages and liability, adhering to Wawanesa’s adjusting guidelines.
- Collaborate with vendors such as appraisers, rental companies, and repair facilities.
- Negotiate and convey claim settlements within authority limits.
- Maintain an effective diary system and document claim file activities.
- Stay updated with legislative changes and industry trends.
- Support CAT plan as necessary, potentially assisting on claims outside of your service area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Level 1: Previous customer service experience; previous insurance experience and/or education is a strong asset.
- Level 2: 1 year auto claims adjusting experience.
- Level 3: 3 years or more auto claims adjusting experience; previous demonstrated experience with fraud investigations, heavy commercial, and fleet are strong assets.
- Post-secondary degree is preferred.
- Currently working towards, or completed, a CIP designation through the Insurance Institute of Canada.
- Exceptional customer service skills demonstrating empathy and concern for member satisfaction.
- Excellent communication skills; listening, written, and spoken.
- Good investigative and analytical skills.
- Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy regarding data entry.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Good negotiation, decision making and critical thinking skills.
- Willingness to improve.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate with others.
