About the Role
Join NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in shaping the future of our Medicine Pulmonary Stepdown Unit. Be on the cutting edge of healthcare and work with state-of-the-art technology, such as the next generation of Philips telemetry systems, allowing you to sharpen your skills each and every day. Oversee the nightly operations of our Pulmonary Stepdown Unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and caring to our patients. Partner closely with Patient Care Director, who will help mentor and guide you in your new leadership role.
Responsibilities
- Establish short- and long-term goals for the unit.
- Manage and evaluate staff.
- Lead nightly huddles.
- Support clinical decision-making.
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate services.
- Regularly assess unit operations (including patient flow and throughput) to identify room for improvement.
- Lead initiatives focused on enhancing quality and performance throughout the unit.
- Continuously move forward in your career, as you receive numerous opportunities to learn and grow.
Requirements
- At least two years of acute care RN experience in a stepdown unit (vent experience preferred).
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Current New York State RN license (or willingness to obtain).
- BCLS certification.
- All roles require on-site presence.
- Employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
- NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.
