About the Role
Responsible for the coordination of patient care services for the clinical specialty, patient population, and assigned location(s)/shift. Uses organizational, clinical, communication, and problem-solving skills to assist in managing patient workflow. Serves as a role model and clinical expert for professional nursing care delivery and maintains optimal patient care standards. Provides age-appropriate patient care and participates in patient/family teaching. Promotes adherence to organizational policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws and regulations for an optimal patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient care services for the clinical specialty, patient population, and assigned location(s)/shift.
- Utilize organizational, clinical, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage patient workflow.
- Serve as a role model and clinical expert for professional nursing care delivery.
- Develop and maintain optimal patient care standards.
- Provide age-appropriate patient care.
- Participate in patient/family teaching.
- Work cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient team personnel.
- Adhere to and promote organizational policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Promote an optimal patient experience.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Registered Nurse (RN) of California.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- 8 years recent relevant experience.
- Expert knowledge and competence in nursing theories, concepts, and practices.
- Expert knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Expert knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precaution policies, and best practices regarding patient care and privacy.
- Knowledge of changes in local/state/federal regulations.
- Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
- Knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook).
- Experience with electronic health records (Epic preferred).
- Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
- Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
