About the Role
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is seeking a part-time Adult Education Corrections Instructor for Dyer and Lake County Jails. This role involves providing high-quality instruction, supporting student learning, and maintaining a positive classroom environment. Key responsibilities include teaching, evaluating student progress, developing employability skills, and assisting with job placement or enrollment in further education.
Responsibilities
- Plan, teach, and evaluate student work, and provide instruction.
- Deliver contextualized integrated education and training (IET) programming, combining adult basic skills with workforce development.
- Assist students with resumes and job applications.
- Administer and interpret scores on HiSET and TABE exams for student placement and instruction.
- Organize and maintain confidential program and student files and report documentation, including maintaining correct student sign-in sheets.
- Work with corrections staff to develop a program that supports students' progression.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) and other computer software.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with jail staff.
- Ability to manage deadlines and work in a team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to using technology in the teaching and learning process and staying current with instructional technologies.
