About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer (Fiber Extrusion) is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing methods to optimize fiber cable extrusion processes and deliver innovative products globally. This role supports new product development and continuous improvement in a rapidly expanding facility.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical support to manufacturing operations, troubleshooting process issues, identifying root causes of defects, and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve yield in fiber cable extrusion.
- Lead and support the development and introduction of new fiber cable products, including process design, material selection, equipment qualification, and establishing robust manufacturing parameters to ensure successful scale-up from pilot to full production.
- Continuously identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and quality enhancement through the application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, focusing on extrusion parameters, material handling, and equipment performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the planning, justification, installation, and commissioning of new extrusion equipment and lines, ensuring seamless integration into existing facilities and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials for extrusion processes. Conduct training sessions for production personnel to ensure consistent application of best practices and process understanding.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or other related technical fields.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
- Technical understanding of extrusion equipment and operation.
- Experience in AutoCAD or SolidWorks design.
- Previous experience in fiber cable extrusion strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to apply structured problem-solving techniques (FMEA, statistical analysis) to complex manufacturing challenges, with a keen eye for data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams, present technical information clearly, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience managing technical projects from conception to completion, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing, with a focus on delivering results on time and within budget.
