About the Role

Mastercard is seeking an experienced Employee Relations professional to join its Global Employee Relations team. This role will collaborate with People Business Partners, employment law, compliance, and business stakeholders to develop and implement ER best practices and processes that support a culture of decency and fairness, aligning with Mastercard values and local laws.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice to People Business Partners, managers, and employees on company policies and processes.
  • Partner with internal employment counsel, compliance, and People Business Partners to manage employee relations issues and investigations.
  • Investigate concerns, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other work-related issues.
  • Prepare investigative documentation, including interview notes and findings summaries.
  • Prepare, track, and maintain appropriate investigation and reorganization data and documentation.
  • Utilize a case management system to manage cases from intake to resolution.
  • Provide and manage periodic reporting to relevant senior stakeholders.
  • Establish strong cross-functional relationships at all levels and geographies.
  • Provide ER advice and guidance to People Business Partners and managers in the UK, Ireland, and Europe on topics such as performance management, M&A, TUPE, disciplinary processes, absence management, and managing risk in employment terminations.
  • Partner with relevant control functions on investigations and outcomes.
  • Create insights from data to inform process improvements and drive a culture consistent with Mastercard values.

Requirements

  • Experience working in complex, multi-national, matrixed, and fast-paced environments.
  • Background in law (ideally legally qualified or with equivalent experience) with strong employment law capability.
  • Market experience across UK and Ireland (broader European markets preferred).
  • Deep Human Resources expertise with significant and demonstrable experience in Employee Relations.
  • Proven ability to advise on a wide range of employee relations matters with sound judgment and a pragmatic approach.
  • Strong project management capability with experience delivering global or cross-regional initiatives.
  • Highly developed investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize data effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy, patience, tact, and professionalism.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Responsible for information security, including abiding by security policies, ensuring confidentiality and integrity of information, reporting suspected violations, and completing mandatory security trainings.
