About the Role
Working under minimal supervision, this role contributes to Wawanesa's success by assisting in the implementation of strategies and initiatives aimed at achieving profitability, competitiveness, and efficiency in our broker account systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and execution of team reporting, including the creation and analysis of relevant reports as needed, maintenance of reporting dashboards, and participation in a broader reporting strategy.
- Participate in the completion of the monthly/quarterly financial accountability process in collaboration with relevant business units, including data preparation, reporting, analysis, and presentation.
- Analyze and resolve complex issues related to billing, payments, and reconciliations.
- Initiate communications with partner brokers to ensure diligent processing of payment triggers established in service level agreements.
- Support the development and implementation of strategies and initiatives.
- Maintain and update departmental procedure manuals and workflows to ensure current information is captured.
- Participate in the creation, review, and annual update of standardized work papers to ensure availability for audit requests.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as a subject matter expert on departmental initiatives, including technological advancements.
- Participate in system changes, testing, implementation, and training, as well as support during transition periods.
- Report and track system-related incidents and collaborate with stakeholders to find solutions.
- Mentor and develop team members and facilitate sessions to share knowledge and best practices.
- Perform broker accounts receivable reconciliations, as applicable.
- Cultivate positive professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform any other assigned duties.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience in payment processing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, accounts receivable workflows, and procedures.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and Copilot or other AI-assisted software.
- Experience with accounting and accounts receivable software (or relevant systems).
- Strong leadership skills to positively influence team members and lead by example.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and champion change while motivating and influencing others.
- Experience with Guidewire and PeopleSoft is an asset.
- Experience in the P&C insurance industry is an asset.
- Active enrollment in or willingness to enroll in the PAA program is an asset.
- Active participation in a business analysis, financial analysis program, or equivalent courses, or attainment of a designation or diploma is an asset.
