About the Role

The Fair Futures and SILP Director oversees the Fair Futures team at Kaplan House and Cedar Knolls House, and the Supervised Independent Living Program (SILP). These programs provide therapeutic and support services to adolescents and young adults aged 16-21 referred through ACS and the Juvenile Justice system, assisting them towards independence through an extensive independent living skills program, vocational preparation, and educational services. The SILP offers a transitional living environment for youth aged 18-21 transitioning to adulthood.

Responsibilities

  • Establish annual goals for the program.
  • Create and encourage opportunities for staff development and professional growth.
  • Ensure programmatic compliance with auditing standards and agency policies.
  • Represent the programs at external stakeholder meetings.
  • Have overall clinical and administrative responsibility for program staff, including supervision, training, and development.
  • Ensure programmatic systems are in place to meet all client safety needs, both on and off grounds.
  • Ensure the site meets appropriate safety and aesthetic standards.
  • Ensure appropriate direct clinical supervision is provided to all clinical staff members.
  • Ensure appropriate psychiatric, assessment, therapeutic, and independent living disciplines are available and administered to residents.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with community representatives and groups to enhance linkages for the client population.
  • Oversee key administrative staff of the program and ensure appropriate completion/compliance of their work.
  • Participate in the recruitment processes of essential staff and have ultimate responsibility for candidate selection.
  • Ensure all internal/external regulatory requirements are met.
  • Manage fiscal and human resources related to program operations.
  • Develop and adhere to the department budget.
  • Adhere to the philosophy, values, and practices of the Sanctuary model in guiding day-to-day interactions with residents and staff, with a focus on family engagement.
  • Hire and provide clinical and administrative supervision to the Clinical Director, Senior Team Leader, and Programming Manager at both programs.
  • Oversee the program's budget, ensuring the program meets the budgeted census.
  • Manage risk regarding client safety by adhering to all risk management protocols.
  • Write policy, procedures, and protocols.
  • Assess program needs, increase efficiencies, and build teams.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans with staff members to enhance programming.
  • Expand and develop youth-guided family-driven care.
  • Embody Sanctuary principles & values and ensure integration of said principles throughout the program.
  • Support and strengthen interdisciplinary practice.
  • Use data to inform and guide practice.
  • Value and demonstrate cultural competency.
  • Value professional development and participation in supervision and training.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in either child welfare, Juvenile justice, mental health, or other residential treatment setting.
  • Three (3) of which have been in a senior managerial/operations level capacity.
  • Experience with documenting in electronic health records and using Microsoft Office software.
  • Travel between multiple locations.
  • Engage in physical activities with the youth, as needed.
  • Walk up and down stairs.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word.
