About the Role
Jefferies is seeking an associate for its Metals and Mining Equity Research team in New York. The associate will compile and analyze industry, macro, and commodity market data, build financial models, and write research reports. Over time, the role includes communicating recommendations, developing marketing materials, meeting with management teams, and attending industry conferences.
Responsibilities
- Compile and analyze industry and macro data and trends, commodity market fundamentals, and company financials.
- Build and maintain financial models and industry databases.
- Ensure correct and up-to-date information for research reports.
- Write research reports, including earnings reports, company reports, monthly/weekly publications, and initiation reports.
- Review business and trade publications, annual reports, financial filings, and other sources to gather, synthesize, and interpret data.
- Communicate recommendations to sales, trading, and clients.
- Develop marketing materials for clients.
- Meet with management teams of companies.
- Attend industry conferences.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree with high GPA.
- Strong academic background, with a focus on geology or mining engineering preferred.
- 3-5 years of mining experience and/or financial services experience, preferably in sell-side/buy-side equity research or investment banking.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Excel skills will be critical.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a time sensitive environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Resourcefulness, entrepreneurial spirit and proven leadership qualities.
