About the Role
RISE Academy seeks an Education Specialist to create and implement high-quality curriculum and enrichment programming for the COMPASS Afterschool Program and Summer Program. This role involves coaching, training, and supporting staff to ensure engaging and developmentally appropriate educational activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, and manage curriculum and enrichment programming across all required COMPASS content areas.
- Design, organize, and oversee the implementation of lesson plans that align with DYCD COMPASS requirements and program goals.
- Provide observation, coaching, supervision, training, and ongoing support to Activity Specialists, Group Leaders, and Youth Workers.
- Maintain curriculum materials, activity schedules, and instructional resources.
- Build positive relationships with participants, families, school staff, community partners, and program staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an Education-related field.
- Minimum of one year of experience teaching and/or creating lesson plans.
- Demonstrated experience coaching, training, and evaluating staff.
- Experience developing or implementing curriculum, lesson plans, or enrichment programming for school-age children.
- Experience working in an afterschool, education, recreation, childcare, or youth development setting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coach staff and collaborate with families, schools, and community partners.
- Knowledge of DYCD standards and experience ensuring program compliance is preferred.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Ability to work in-person in New York City (NYC).
- Ability to travel to other Rising Ground Sites (if required).
