About the Role
The Yard Specialist is a Certified Motor Vehicle Operator responsible for the fleet of trucks and trailers, including their placement, inspection, and general maintenance within the G&C Foods truck yard.
Responsibilities
- Performs daily yard equipment inventory at the start of each shift
- Pulls all returns and pallet jacks off trailers left in the yard and plugs them in
- Brings backhaul paperwork from the Guard shack to Transportation
- Fuels Trailers
- Moves trailers to designated docks for loading and unloading
- Properly pre-trips Yard Tractors and Trailers to ensure DOT compliance
- Reports Service issues to dispatch and Service
- Empties trash by the fuel pumps and by vacuum in the garage as needed
- Assists Drivers as needed
- Takes equipment for repairs as needed
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment
- Collaborates with snow removal company to ensure safe operations of the yard during snowstorms/winter months
- Checks the yard for debris/trash that could cause damage to equipment
- Performs wash moves as specified by the Yard Management System
- Performs other functions as needed or directed by Management
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- CDL-A preferred
- NYS Driver's License
