About the Role
Peer Support services are peer-delivered services with a rehabilitation and recovery focus, designed to promote coping skills and enhance recovery-oriented principles. These services use trauma-informed, non-clinical assistance to achieve long-term recovery from a behavioral health disorder, tailored to individual needs and community supports.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals in seeking and obtaining benefits, food, and shelter.
- Facilitate participation in shared decision-making and systems navigation.
- Provide companionship and model a recovery lifestyle.
- Raise awareness of existing services and help remove access barriers.
- Conduct interim visits with individuals and families after discharge to facilitate community tenure.
- Assist in selecting and utilizing self-directed recovery tools and self-help groups.
- Provide recovery education and counseling for individuals and family members.
- Assist with skills development for independent living.
- Facilitate transitions from jail, prison, or institutions to home and community.
- Provide non-clinical support during emergencies or crisis situations.
- Develop crisis diversion or relapse prevention plans.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- "Lived" / relevant experience.
- Clean driving record for 3 years.
- Must maintain certification requirements.
